Candy clicker strategy guide
Idle games look simple, but a little planning makes the numbers climb a lot faster. Here is how to get the most out of Candy Clicker.
Early game: buy the cheapest thing, always
For the first few minutes, the single best rule is to spend your candy as soon as you can afford the next building or upgrade. Idle production compounds — candy you bank earns nothing, but candy spent on a building earns forever. Don't hoard.
Upgrades beat raw buildings
Click and building multipliers are almost always worth buying immediately. A "x2" upgrade doubles a whole category of income for a flat one-time cost, which quickly outpaces buying one more of an expensive building. When an upgrade lights up, grab it.
Which building should I buy?
A good rule of thumb is to compare cost ÷ candy-per-second across buildings and buy whichever gives the most production per candy spent. In practice the newest building you can afford is usually the best value, because each tier roughly out-produces the last. Don't ignore your cheap early buildings entirely, though — their per-building upgrades are cheap and keep them relevant.
Chase the milestone stars (★)
Every building hits a milestone at 10, 25, 50 and 100 owned — each one permanently makes that building produce ×1.5 more (so a building at 100 produces about ×5). The stars on each row show how close you are. This changes the optimal play: it's often worth buying a few extra of a cheap building to push it over the next milestone, because the ×1.5 applies to all of them at once. Use the ×10 / ×100 buy buttons to reach milestones quickly.
Tap the golden candy 🍬✨
Every minute or two a glowing golden candy drifts across the screen for about 13 seconds. Always tap it — it gives one of two rewards at random:
- Lucky — an instant lump of candy (scales with your bank and income, so it's always worth it).
- Frenzy — ×7 production for 30 seconds. This is the single biggest swing in the game.
Pro move: during a Frenzy, also trigger the watch-an-ad 2× boost — they stack to ×14 — and click furiously, since your click power is multiplied too. Try to spend a Frenzy when your candy-per-second is already high.
When should I prestige?
Prestige melts your whole factory down into Sugar Crystals, and each crystal permanently adds +3% to all future production. Because crystals scale with the square root of your lifetime candy, the first reset is the most impactful relative to your progress. A common guideline: prestige when doing so would increase your permanent multiplier by at least 50–100% — i.e. when your pending crystals are worth roughly as much as what you have already banked. Resetting too early wastes momentum; waiting too long means slow growth you could have skipped. After a reset your permanent multiplier and milestones-worth of experience make the next run much faster, so you blast back to where you were and then push further.
Use offline progress
Your factory keeps producing while the tab is closed, up to 8 hours. Before a long break, make sure your candy-per-second is as high as you can get it — you'll come back to a pile of candy and a "welcome back" bonus.
Watch-an-ad boost
The optional 2× boost doubles all production for 30 minutes. Save it for right before an active play session, a golden-candy Frenzy, or a big push toward your next prestige, so the doubled output lands on your highest income rate.
